CONSULTANCY POLICY

City College Jayanagar encourages its faculty members to engage in consultancy services, fostering collaboration between academia and industry. The policy facilitates a clear structure for the sharing of consultancy income and promotes the dissemination of faculty expertise.

1. Consultancy Sharing Ratio:

  • The college follows a 60:40 sharing ratio between the consultant (faculty member) and City College Jayanagar. This ensures that both the college and the consultant benefit from external consultancy work.

2. Faculty Expertise and Promotion:

  • Faculty members are encouraged to post their skill sets and areas of expertise on the college’s official website to attract potential industry partners and clients.
  • The college regularly updates its Faculty Profiles online, showcasing research, specializations, and areas where consultancy services are offered.

3. Industry Collaboration:

  • Industries seeking expertise in specific fields will approach the faculty consultant directly. This interaction will be facilitated by the Research and Consultancy Cell of the college.
  • The consultant will engage in projects that contribute to the advancement of industry practices, innovation, and problem-solving.

4. Approval Process:

  • The consultant will submit all project details to the Principal and the Management for approval and clearance. This ensures transparency and aligns consultancy projects with the college’s vision and policies.
  • Consultancy work should not conflict with the academic duties of the faculty member and should be scheduled in a way that does not disrupt teaching responsibilities.

5. Consultancy Fee Distribution:

  • The consultancy fees received by the faculty member will be shared with the college, adhering to the 60:40 ratio. The Research and Consultancy Cell will facilitate the financial transactions, ensuring that the process is smooth and well-documented.

6. Seed Fund for Research and Development:

  • A portion of the income generated from consultancy work will be allocated to the college’s Research and Development Fund. This fund will be used to promote further research projects, faculty development programs, and student-led research initiatives.

7. Intellectual Property (IP) Rights:

  • Faculty members who develop innovative solutions, products, or patents as part of their consultancy work will retain intellectual property rights, as per agreements between the college and the client.
  • Any IP-related revenue generated from consultancy projects will be shared between the consultant, the college, and the industry partner, following mutually agreed terms.

8. Confidentiality and Professionalism:

  • Consultants must adhere to strict confidentiality agreements with their clients. All client information, research, and findings must be treated with discretion and in compliance with the college’s ethical standards.

9. Recognition and Rewards:

  • Faculty members who excel in consultancy work and contribute to the reputation of City College Jayanagar will be recognized at annual college events. Their achievements in consultancy will also be considered for promotions and performance-based incentives.
