POLICY FOR PROMOTION OF RESEARCH
City College Jayanagar is committed to fostering a robust research culture among its faculty and students. To achieve this, the college has established a Research and Development Cell (RDC), which oversees and promotes all research activities, projects, and collaborations.
1. Research and Development Cell (RDC):
- The RDC plays a key role in scrutinizing and evaluating research proposals and projects. It facilitates research funding through various national, international, and state-level funding agencies, as well as through internal funding by City College Jayanagar’s Trust.
- Faculty members are encouraged to apply for research projects funded by external agencies, following the norms of UGC and other academic bodies.
2. Seed Funding for Research:
- The Management of City College Jayanagar provides seed funding for approved minor research proposals submitted by faculty members. This seed money encourages faculty to explore innovative research areas.
3. Interdisciplinary Research:
- The college advocates for interdisciplinary research across departments to promote holistic academic and societal development. Collaborative projects between the Science, Commerce, Humanities, and Technology faculties are highly encouraged.
4. Faculty Development and Research Support:
- Faculty members without a PhD degree are actively encouraged to pursue and complete their PhD. To facilitate this, the college offers study leave to support research activities.
- TA/DA (Travel Allowance/Daily Allowance) is provided to faculty members presenting research work at national and international conferences.
- Research output in the form of publications, presentations, and patents is one of the key criteria for the promotion of faculty members.
5. PhD Supervision and Regulations:
- In line with the regulations of the university, Assistant and Associate Professors with requisite qualifications, PhD degrees, and publications are eligible to act as PhD supervisors.
- Faculty members are encouraged to supervise PhD students and develop research projects that contribute to academic knowledge and practical applications.
6. Research Collaboration and MoUs:
- Faculty members are encouraged to engage in collaborative research with other universities and institutions in India and abroad. The college facilitates the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to formalize such collaborations, ensuring a shared commitment to advancing knowledge.
- Joint research publications, exchange programs, and sharing of expertise are some of the initiatives fostered by these collaborations.
7. Research Excellence Recognition:
- Each year, the Research Excellence Awards are presented by the Management on Republic Day to recognize outstanding contributions in research, including publications, patents, and the completion of PhD degrees.
- Annual research accomplishments are highlighted in the college’s academic journal and celebrated during college events.
8. Undergraduate Research Support:
- To promote research at the undergraduate level, City College Jayanagar provides students with opportunities to participate in research projects alongside faculty members.
The college encourages students to present their research at student conferences and seminars, providing guidance and financial support where applicable.
